About Awkward Blooms

Set up by Seven Tsang in 2013, Awkward Blooms specializes in botanical arrangement, especially suitable for indoor environment. Combining plant knowledge and our aesthetics, green plants and different species of air-plants are used to create visually inspiring and intriguing pieces, ranging from tabletop arrangements to larger-scale installations.

Air-plants are often used in our works for its easy maintenance and practicality since they can grow soil-free. Contrasting with different materials, such as metal, glass, and cement, we hope our pieces could bring across visual messages, more than just a simply terrarium. The aesthetic approach we take on is an expression of what we think, showing our urge to experiement and our utmost love for plants and nature.

In 2016 May, Tsang is awarded “40under40 – art category” by Perspective Magazine, an award that celebrates young design leaders of today and tomorrow. In 2017, she was featured in an art exhibition “無用之用” which held by City Magazine. Tsang’s first solo art exhibition “共生Symbiosis” is completed in November 2020.
